[ratings]I know, I know. It came to my attention this week that after speaking about NBC’s 30 Rock that I left a lot of women “in the industry” out. But I failed to mention today’s top headline grabbers, specifically the Desperate Housewives of ABC.
However, TV has always been full of hot moms. Let’s see there was Florence Henderson, Lucielle Ball, Barbara Eden, Barbara Billingsley - remember Leave It to Beaver? That was a great title. And all those domestic moms were cougars - they just didn’t quite know it but I wanted to fuck them all.
But for today television is full of hot women, even more so than movies. Even if you watch a little latino television, you realize there are lot of hotties down in Mexico. But as I said I left a lot of these sexy bitches out. We’re talking mature here so let me defend my soapbox.
The Desperate Housewives are quintessential cougars no doubt. But since they have been around for years now, they have turned into tabloid trash and starting to show their age (including Terri Hatcher.) In effect only Eva Longoria is the one chasing a pool boy and that was ages ago. To be frank I don’t classify them as Cougars, rather washed-up MILFs. And they’re high maintenance as well. If you were really to get involved with one of these old bags you wouldn’t call the next day.
Who are today’s best Cougar’s on TV? Ellen Pompeo? Julianna Margulies? Tina Fey? No. None of them fit the bill because none are cougars. And none of them really act sexy, they just play the girl next door. Even Rebecca De Mornay from the ill-fated John from Cincinatti is not really a cat on the seductive side. If you disagree I’d love to hear it. What about The Real Housewives of Orange County. Well yes, but today I’m talking about non-porn actresses from the scripted world.
Really there is one outstanding Cougar in my mind. My favorite leading lady on TV right now has got to be Kyra Sedgwick from TNT’s The Closer. Any divorced police woman in high heels will make you talk. But that’s my own preference and I’ll leave it at Sedgwick.
